A smile makeover is a customized plan to make your smile more youthful and attractive. The transformation can be designed so all your biggest cosmetic dental problems are corrected.
It’s impossible to say because the combination will be designed to give you the best possible results based on your cosmetic goals and the current condition of your smile. During your consultation with Cherry Creek cosmetic dentist Dr. Jeff Johnston, you will discuss your options and decide on the best combination of procedures to get you the results you desire.
It depends on what procedures are included in your makeover. If, for example, your smile makeover consists of tooth whitening and a dental crown, it will take only one visit. The dental crown will be designed, then you will have your teeth whitened. A porcelain will be chosen that closely matches the shade of your whitened teeth and the crown will be manufactured using our crowns in a day system.
If you are having multiple porcelain veneers or other porcelain restorations used as part of your smile makeover, your procedure will take about two weeks—the amount of time it takes for your restorations to be manufactured in the dental lab.
If a six month smile is part of your plan, then six months are necessary to allow the orthodontics to do their work. Traditional brace may take over a year to complete.
With proper maintenance, your smile makeover results will last a decade or more. Proper maintenance using whitening trays can make your tooth whitening results essentially permanent. And wearing your retainer as instructed will ensure your orthodontic results are equally long-lasting. Porcelain veneers and other porcelain restorations typically last more than a decade when properly cared for. All restorations used in your smile makeover will be covered by our exclusive warranty for their expected lifetime.
Not generally. Some of the procedures do require that your teeth are prepared to receive restorations, but this involves only manipulation of the dental enamel, not the tooth nerves. To be sure you feel no discomfort, you will have anesthetics during the procedure. Afterward, you may experience some discomfort and heat or cold sensitivity, but these can be controlled using over-the-counter medications. You may experience some discomfort after your braces are tightened, but this is generally short-lived and controllable with over-the-counter medication.
